Every year, every month, and everyday, a Chicagoan (male or female) loses their life to gun violence. It’s on the news, it appears on social networks and many even witness the violence in their own neighborhoods. Many victims whose lives are lost are people of color.

No one ever deserves to lose their life or a loved one but for some reason Chicago, a city

that’s loved by many, keeps advancing into a war zone. The gun violence in the city of Chicago is at historical rates.

Because of the frequency of the shootings, residents that live within the most affected neighborhoods are becoming accustomed to the gun violence; it’s is no longer a shock or surprise to them. Many wake up the next morning and go about their day as if nothing happened the night before.

The day after a fatal shooting, police tape is gone and residents live, work and play.

Krista, Destiny and Tiera live in and around Chicago. They were asked how they felt about the gun violence in their neighborhood, and their answers varied from gang violence to police, who draw their guns too quickly.
